Dance Expressions I
Age 3


NEW this year!
Fridays 10:15-10:45AM (30 min class)
This is a developmentally appropriate dance class for 3 year olds emphasizing movement and musicality. The young dancer will have fun with skills learned through rhyme and rhythm. Must be age 3 by Sept. 1, 2019. Instructor: Siri Drontle

Semester 1: Oct-Dec.We have created a waiting list for this class. Please call 690-1588 or email spb@spballet.org to be placed on the list. Class will not begin until there are 5 students. Thanks for your patience and interest as we build this new class!

Semester 2: Feb 3- Jun 6. Register by Feb 1, 2020.

Tuition: Prorated for the remainder of the semester to Feb 1

What to wear:
Clothing that allows for fluid movement and stretching. Bare feet.


Dance Expressions II
Age 3-4

Wednesdays 5:45-6:30PM or
Saturdays 9:45-10:30AM (45 min class)

This is a developmentally appropriate dance class for 3-4 year olds emphasizing movement and musicality. The young dancer will have fun with skills learned through rhyme and rhythm. Instructor: Mary Coats

Semester 1: Sep 9-Feb 1. Register and pay by Sept. 5, 2019.
Semester 2: Feb 3- Jun 6. Register and pay by Feb 1, 2020.
Tuition: $ 555.90 Discount for cash or check $545.00. Bi-annual and monthly payment plans available.
What to wear:
Pink leotard, pink or white footless tights, bare feet. Simple skirts permitted.
White T-shirt, black or dark biker shorts or pants, bare feet.


Dance Expressions III
Age 5-6

Wednesdays 6:30-7:30PM or
Saturdays 10:30-11:30AM (60 min class)

This is a developmentally appropriate dance class for 5-6 year olds. Dancers gain strength, flexibility, self confidence and are encouraged to create in collaboration with others. Instructor: Mary Coats

Semester 2: Feb 3- Jun 6. Register and pay by Feb 1, 2020.

WORKSHOPS & DROP-IN CLASSES AGES 2.5-6

Parent & Me
Ages 2.5-4

We invite you to St. Paul Ballet’s “Parent and Me” dance class, for our youngest dancers ages 2.5-4 and their parents!
Enjoy and explore the fundamentals of movement, music and rhythm in this developmentally appropriate class. Young dancers will be engaged through artistic body and brain connection through the joy of movement. Instructors: Mary Coats and Siri Drontle
Tuition: $45.90 per session. Discount for cash or check $45.00.

What to wear:

Music & Movement Drop-in Class
Ages 4-6

Saturdays 9:00-9:45AM

This creative movement class will allow students to explore their imaginations by moving their bodies through space. Three or four concepts from the progressive curriculum of the Children’s semester program will be repeated in this introductory class. The class is designed for families to come and go according to their schedules. This class continues into the school year.
Instructor: Mary Coats

$34 for 4-class pack OR $66 for 8-class pack (no registration fee; cards are good for six months)
Single class $9.00
What to wear:
Comfortable clothes, not baggy, bare feet. Dancers may wear leotards and tights and ballet slippers if desired.
OR may wear biker-type shorts and t-shirt if desired. Hair pulled neatly away from face and neck.

For Parents or Caregivers

IS THERE A FORMAL RECITAL?

For our youngest students, we offer a series of “Parent Observations” throughout the year. Family and friends are invited into the familiar classroom space to observe their student’s progress and participate alongside their dancer. 

Also, Dance Expressions I, II and III students are invited to participate in the annual Spring Showcase, a celebration of the accomplishments of all students. The performances take place in a theater setting and are open to family, friends and the community.

Performing for Dance Expressions I & II

Spring Showcase: A Celebration of Our Students for students enrolled in the second semester in Dance Expressions I, II & III and all full-year programs. Performances May 2020.

Performance fees: This fee helps defray the costs for cleaning/repair/replacement of costumes in SPB’s inventory.
$25 fee due March 1, 2020 for students participating in the Spring Showcase.

We couldn’t do it without you! Parents/guardians of semester or full-term students have the option of volunteering a minimum of 4 hours per semester during performance production weeks or paying a fee of $100 per semester to hire additional staff for productions.

Performing for Dance Expressions III

A Nutcracker Story for all students enrolled full-time for the school year. Performances December 20-21, 2019 at The O’Shaughnessy in St. Paul. Casting is at the sole discretion of the directors.

Spring Showcase: A Celebration of Our Students for students enrolled full-time for the school year and students of the Dance Expressions I, II, & III. Performances May 2020.
