Full School-Year Classes Ages 7-8

Beginning Ballet I
Age 7

Saturdays 9:30-11:00AM(Ballet technique and Repertory)

Introduction to the basics of ballet vocabulary and technique, traditional structure and etiquette of the ballet class, creative movement and repertoire. Instructor: Rahila Coats

Semester 1: Sep 9-Feb 1. Register and pay by Sept. 5, 2019.
Semester 2: Feb 3- Jun 6. Register and pay by Feb 1, 2020.
Tuition: $830.27 Discount for cash or check $814.00. Bi-annual and monthly payment plans available.

What to wear:
Girls: Vivid rose leotard (see Dancewear Order Form 2019-20), pink tights, pink ballet slippers. No skirts. Hair pulled neatly away from face and neck.
Boys: White fitted tee or athletic shirt, black tights or black shorts, white socks, black or white ballet slippers. Hair pulled neatly away from face and neck.


Beginning Ballet II
Age 8

Semester Classes Ages 7-12

Intro to Ballet
Ages 7-12

Wednesdays 6:15-7:15pm OR

This class is for dancers who are ages 7-12 who have little to no ballet experience. Classes will cover the basics of ballet, will repeat curriculum often and are designed to give children the foundation for moving into the Leveled Program of the SPB School if desired. This class is optimal cross-training for children who also study complimentary arts, such as theater, circus, Irish dance, gymnastics, figure skating or other sports. Fridays 6:00-7:00pm

Intro to ballet conditioning, flexibility and technique particular to male dancers. Plenty of jumping and strength exercises. Instructor: Da’Rius Malone

No Class Dec 6-Jan 5 for winter break.

Session 1 : Nine classes Sep 9-Nov 22. (No classes Oct 18 and 25.) Register and pay by Sept. 5, 2019.
Session 2: Eight classes Apr 10- May 15. (No class May 22.) Register and pay by Feb 1, 2020.

Dance Explorers Ensemble
Ages 7-12

Wednesdays 4:30-5:45pm

We move in relationships, community, choreography. SPB students* who participate in this dance class will create dances!  They will explore choreography, build dancer connections, and perform their own work.*Dancer will attend a minimum of one other technique class per week at SPB. Instructors: Mary Coats & Siri Drontle
Two Sessions: Dancer may register for one or both sessions.

  • In-studio performance on Nov. 20th and March 25th during regular class time.
  • Parent information meeting during first dance class.

Session 1: Sep 11-Nov 20. Register and pay by Sept. 5, 2019.
Session 2: Jan 8- Mar 25. Register and pay by Jan 5, 2020.
Tuition: $188.70 per session. Discount for cash or check $185.00. Monthly payment plan available.

What to wear:
Comfortable clothes, not baggy, bare feet. Dancers may wear leotards and tights and ballet slippers if desired. OR may wear biker-type shorts and t-shirt if desired. Hair pulled neatly away from face and neck.

Dance wear Order Form 2019-20

TUITION PAYMENTS:

Tuition payments are due before the start of classes for the year by September 5, 2019.

For convenience, tuition may be paid by semesters or monthly (please contact the Administrative Assistant at 651-690-1588).

  • 2 Semester payments: September 5, 2019 and February 1, 2020 by cash, check or credit card.
  • 8 Monthly payments: due on the same day each month. Arrange at registration.
  • NOTE: A 2% processing fee will be added to all credit card transactions.
  • \Entire tuition payment MUST be completed before the Spring Showcase in May 2020 for student to be able to participate in the performance.

Sibling discount: 5% on the lower tuition for Children’s Creative Dance program  |  10% on the lower tuition for Ballet Upper and Lower School programs

New Student Admission

New students ages 8-18: Please contact spb@spballet.org or call 651-690-1588 to arrange a placement class for the Upper or Lower School in the pre-professional division.
The class will include technique (Level 3) and pointe (Level 4-6), and will be observed by the teacher. Female dancers should wear a black or solid color leotard, pink footed tights, pink ballet slippers and pointe shoes, if applicable, and hair in a neat and firm bun in back middle of head. Male dancers should wear a fitted white tee shirt, black tights and black ballet slippers.

Performing for Beginning Ballet I & II

Performances:
A Nutcracker Story for all students enrolled full-time for the school year. Performances December 20-21, 2019 at The O’Shaughnessy in St. Paul. Casting is at the sole discretion of the directors.

Spring Showcase: A Celebration of Our Students for students enrolled full-time for the school year and students of Dance Expressions I, II, & III. Performances May 2020.

  1. Performance fees: This fee helps defray the costs for cleaning/repair/replacement of costumes in SPB’s inventory.
    $40 fee due October 1, 2019 for students participating in A Nutcracker Story.
    $40 fee due March 1, 2020 for students participating in the Spring Showcase.

We couldn’t do it without you! Parents/guardians of semester or full-term students have the option of volunteering a minimum of 4 hours per semester during performance production weeks or paying a fee of $100 per semester to hire additional staff for productions.

NOTE: Students continue in their same class and level unless the School Director recommends a change in level placement or they have formally withdrawn.
