SCHOOL-YEAR DIVISION

This program provides students with exceptional clarity and strength while encouraging a life-long love of dance and healthy body image. Live accompaniment, enrichment in modern and character dance along with promotion of health and well-being complete the training.

Students enrolled in the School-Year Division build the foundation for college-level programs, conservatory or a professional career. Over 100 students each year are trained in the Vaganova-based progressive curriculum augmented by modern dance and other genres to create the well-rounded dancer. The training is divided into levels appropriate to the age, maturity and dance expertise of each student. Auditions are required for placement and progressive advancement is based on strength, physical development and mastery.

New students ages 9-12: If you’d like to join the St. Paul Ballet School-Year Division, please schedule a placement class by contacting the School Director, Christina Onusko at: conusko@spballet.org  or 651-690-1588.

Do you offer scholarships? Yes, we offer need-based scholarships. Please complete the application and mail, email or bring it to our studios at: 655 Fairview Avenue N., St. Paul, MN 55104

To protect the health and well-being of everyone we serve and our staff, St. Paul Ballet has put in place pre-cautions based on recommendations of the MN Department of Health and the Governor’s Office. We are opening in-studio classes at 25% of capacity in accordance with our State guidance and City of St. Paul ordinance.

We remain committed to equity and inclusiveness, especially for those who are marginalized, and understand that the pandemic will hit some in our community harder than others. Closures of non-profits have a profound effect on the financial health of artists and children in our programs.

Our organization is a non-profit and our staff are hourly employees. Their contribution to the vitality of our lives is hard to quantify: beautiful movement and music sparks our imaginations, gives us meaning, helps us understand our world and gives us great personal satisfaction.

COMMUNITY DIVISION

Teens and Adults: Classes are designed for students who wish to begin or continue dance training for self-enrichment, health and recreation. Students are encouraged to grow as an individual artist and to participate at their own pace. Classes are taught by teachers dedicated to the growth and fostering of ballet as an art form and believe dance contributes to a rich arts education and a healthy lifestyle. Classes encourage an aesthetic appreciation of dance and emphasize overall body conditioning.  All classes are accompanied by professional musicians who collaborate with our teachers just as in our School-Year Division.

Call, email or drop by the studio during out business hours to learn more.
