We invite you to St. Paul Ballet’s Parent & Me dance class, for our youngest dancers ages 2.5-4 and their caregivers! Explore movement, music and rhythm. Parents and dancers are encouraged to take what they have learned and continue the joy of movement and body-brain connection at home. This class is preparation for Creative Dance.

What to wear? 
Clothing that allows for fluid movement and stretching. Socks or dance slippers.

Hair and jewelry: Hair pulled neatly away from face and neck. For the safety of the students, only simple stud earrings are permissible. Dangling earrings, necklaces and bracelets can come off while dancing and create a hazard on the floor.

If your child is ready to attend class on their own, this class emphasizes movement and musicality. Moving their bodies through space and learning skills learned rhyme and rhythm will allow your energetic dancer to explore their imaginations.

Dancers build on their joy of dance through strength, flexibility, self-confidence and creativity. For dancers who may wish to enter the Pre-Ballet program this fall. Also, for current Pre-Ballet dancers who will not be age 7 by Sep 1 or would like to continue Pre-Ballet for the summer.

What to wear? 

Female identifying:
Pre-Ballet leotard: Pink, Short-sleeved style. To purchase leotard and/or tights: Discount Dance link
or similar leotard purchased elsewhere. Simple skirts in pink to match leotard are permitted.
Tights-footed: (NOTE: If you are purchasing new tights and shoes they should match in color.) Students may choose the color which is closest to their natural skin tone or pink (translucent matte tights, not shiny or lycra).
Technique shoes: Soft ballet slippers in skin tone or pink in leather or canvas to match tights. Matching shoes and tights creates one visual “line” from the top of the leg to the tip of the toes!  St. Paul Ballet recommends Grand Jeté on Grand Avenue in St. Paul for dance shoes. 

Male identifying:
Top: White crew-neck, short-sleeved, snug-fitting t-shirt
Shorts with ankle socks: Black dance (bike) shorts and plain thin white ankle socks (no thick athletic socks)
Technique shoes: Soft ballet slippers in black or white leather or canvas. St. Paul Ballet recommends Grand Jeté on Grand Avenue in St. Paul for dance shoes.

All:
Hair pulled neatly away from face and neck and secured so that it does not inhibit a dancer’s movement or serve as a distraction during class.
No jewelry:

ELEMENTARY BALLET A ages 7-8

Age 7 & 8 by Sep 1, 2024

This class is for dancers who are moving from Pre-Ballet or the 7-8 year-old new to ballet. It includes an introduction to the basics of ballet vocabulary and technique, structure and etiquette of the ballet class, and creative movement for individual expression.

ELEMENTARY BALLET B ages 9-10

Saturdays 1:15-2:45pm  

This class is for students who wish to begin ballet at the age of 9-10 with no previous experience necessary. This is an introduction to the basics of ballet vocabulary and technique, structure and etiquette of the ballet class, and creative movement for individual expression with other students ages 9-10 years-old.

Tuition payments are due before the start of classes for each Course or Session.

  • Payment may be made by check/cash (in-person) or credit card (online or in-person)
  • Payment plans for semi-annual or monthly payments may be chosen on the final step of the online registration (Billing Payment)
  • Sibling discount: 5% on the lower tuition for Children’s Division  |  10% on the lower tuition for School-Year Division

    New Student Admission

    AGES 2.5-6: Register for class in your age group. No placement or audition needed. 

    AGES 7-10: Elementary Ballet A & B. Register for class in your age group. No placement or audition needed. 

    AGES 10-13: in the Junior and Middle Levels School-Year Training Program:Please contact School Director Christina Onusko at conusko@spballet.org or call 651-690-1588 to arrange a placement class.

    AGES 13-22: in the Upper Level School-Year Training Program: Please contact School Director Christina Onusko at conusko@spballet.org or call 651-690-1588 to arrange a placement class.

           COMING TO THE STUDIO
           If you do not feel well, please stay home.

          ENTERING THE STUDIO

    • Street shoes are to be stored in the cubbies outside of the studios. No street shoes on the studio floors.
    • Bring your personal belongings into the studio. Please only bring the minimum items necessary for class—avoid large dance bags.
    • Come dressed for class if possible. Bathrooms may be used for changing.
    • Please use hand sanitizer or wash your hands before entering the studios.
